Handball Academy

The La Salle Handball Academy teaches handball to boys and girls aged 5 to 16 in Malta. It began in 1998 as Malta’s first handball nursery, and it is still where our players learn the game: the basics first, in a disciplined and enjoyable way, then the step up to our youth and senior teams and, for some, Malta’s national teams.

Training groups are organised by school year. This season’s schedule, venues and fees are below, and you can register your child online while registration is open.

Next season's academy programme has not been published yet. Please check back shortly.

Questions parents ask

What age can my child start handball?

Children can join the academy from age 5 up to 16. Groups are organised by school year, so your child trains with others their own age. The training schedule above lists every group.

Does my child need any handball experience?

No experience is needed. The academy is where children learn the game, starting from the basics.

Is handball for girls too?

Yes. The academy is open to boys and girls, and girls can carry on playing with the club’s Under-21 women’s team and women’s first team.

How much does the academy cost?

Fees cover the whole season and depend on how many sessions a week your child attends. This season’s fees are listed above.

Where is training held?

Each group’s venue is in the training schedule above, and the addresses are under “Where we train”.

What comes after the academy?

Players move up to the club’s youth teams and from there to the Under-21 and first teams. Over the years, academy players have gone on to represent Malta at national team level.
